Week 8 Thursday Injury Report: Defensive line depth tested

InjuryReport-thursdayweek8

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers were short a pair of defensive linemen Thursday.

Rookie defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon (knee) and defensive end Darryl Johnson (hamstring) did not participate in practice.

Nixon popped up on the report Wednesday as a limited participant. The fifth-rounder from Iowa was growing into a role as a regular rotational player, playing a season-high 31 percent of the defensive snaps last week at New York.

Johnson, acquired in a preseason trade with Buffalo, has played a limited role in two games this year, as he's behind a deep group of defensive ends.

Wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (concussion) was out again Thursday.

Center Matt Paradis (back) was listed as limited, in a new addition to the report.

Otherwise, the news was good or at least not worse, as linebacker Shaq Thompson (foot) and cornerback CJ Henderson (shoulder) were again limited. They hope to get Thompson back on the field this week, and defensive coordinator Phil Snow suggested Thursday that he'd likely have a reduced role against the Falcons, since it would be his first game action since Week 4.

Left tackle Cameron Erving (neck), fullback Giovanni Ricci (concussion), and offensive lineman Trent Scott (finger) were listed as full participants. Scott was another new addition to the report Thursday.
