In his eighth season with Carolina in 2018, Ron Rivera is known around the league as a teacher with an innate ability to build his team around the strengths of his players.

A two-time NFL Coach of the Year, Rivera inherited a 2-14 Carolina team as a rookie head coach in 2011 and guided it back to relevance with four playoffs appearances in a five-year span between 2013 and 2017. That mark tied Green Bay and Seattle for the most NFC playoff appearances since 2013. In that five-year span, the Panthers recorded 51 wins, the most in any five-year period in franchise history, and tied for fifth-most in the NFL.
