The Panthers don't play in freezing temperatures regularly, but when they do it makes for some frigid memories. See below for the coldest games in Panthers history (note: temperature is the official game time temperature at kickoff).
Green Bay 30 Carolina 13
1996 NFC Championship game
The coldest game in Panthers history came in the franchise's second season. The Panthers advanced to the NFC Championship after defeating the defending champion Dallas Cowboys at home in the week prior.
However, the magical run ended in the frozen tundra of Green Bay as the temperatures eventually dropped below 0 and the wind chill reached -17 degrees. The Panthers had a fumble and two interceptions and Green Bay's Dorsey Levens ran for 88 yards and had 117 receiving yards.
Minnesota 31 Carolina 13
This game marks the only time that Carolina has played outside in Minnesota, facing the Vikings at the home of the University of Minnesota while a new stadium was built.
The Vikings took a 28-6 lead at halftime thanks to two blocked punts returned for touchdowns. Neither Cam Newton or Teddy Bridgewater passed for over 200 yards as the teams combined for 57 rushing attempts.
Carolina 13 Cleveland 6
Wesley Walls caught a 24-yard touchdown from Rodney Peete at the end of the first quarter and it proved to be the only touchdown during a defensive struggle on a sunny but windy day on the lake.
Wind chill went down to 12 degrees with gusts reaching upwards of 25 MPH. The Panthers forced five turnovers (three interceptions, two fumbles) and Dee Brown rushed 27 times for 122 yards in the win.
Pittsburgh 27 Carolina 3
This Thursday Night Football contest marked the coldest night game in franchise history. Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger threw for 310 yards and a touchdown, while Carolina's Jimmy Clausen managed just 72 yards on 10 completions.
Cleveland 26 Carolina 20
The Panthers held a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter thanks to two touchdowns from Christian McCaffrey, but Cleveland rallied with nine unanswered fourth-quarter points to earn the win.
Denver 34 Carolina 0
The Panthers managed just 147 net yards and seven first downs while committing four turnovers in the snow as Carolina was shutout for the first time in franchise history.
Carolina 23 New Orleans 10
The Panthers beat the Saints in the 2009 season finale in the coldest game in Bank of America Stadium history. Jonathan Stewart ran for 125 yards and a touchdown as he and DeAngelo Williams became the first pair of 1,000-yard rushers in franchise history.
Kansas City 15 Carolina 14
The Chiefs overcame a 14-6 fourth-quarter deficit with a touchdown from Tony Gonzalez and field goal in the final minutes. The Panthers rushed for just 23 yards, the fifth-fewest in a game in franchise history.
Carolina 26 Washington 15
The Panthers scored 10 points in the third quarter to pull away from Washington on Monday Night Football. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 132 yards and Cam Newton threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns.
Philadelphia 27 Carolina 24
The Eagles hit a game-winning field goal in the final minutes to win a back-and-forth contest on Monday Night Football. DeAngelo Williams became the first Panthers running back to top 100 receiving yards in a game, finishing with 175 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.
Pittsburgh 30 Carolina 20
Pittsburgh held Carolina scoreless in the second half and pulled away for the 10-point win. Patrick Jeffers had 160 receiving yards, including an 88-yard touchdown catch.
