Alex Armah clears waivers, signs to practice squad

Posted Sep 4, 2017

The Panthers hold on to their sixth-round pick.

CHARLOTTE -- The Panthers completed their practice squad by adding a familiar face.

Fullback Alex Armah, the team's sixth-round draft choice in April, signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers Monday. Another team could have added Armah if they were willing to add him to their 53-man roster.

Along with putting cornerback Corn Elder (knee) on injured reserve, the Panthers waived Armah on Sunday to make room for quarterback Brad Kaaya and safety Demetrious Cox, who the team claimed off waivers.

The Panthers' practice squad now features 11 players, one more than the league maximum. That's because the team has an exception for defensive end Efe Obada, who is a part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program.
