CHARLOTTE -- NFL Man of the Year finalist Greg Olsen is sending one diehard Panthers fan to Super Bowl LII.
Dean Adcock, a Panthers fan since inception and an original member of the Panthers Challenger Flag Football League for kids and young adults with disabilities, arrived at Bank of America Stadium for what he thought was a Coaching Summit on Monday. Little did he know, Olsen had other plans.
Seated in the Panthers' team meeting room amongst his family, fellow Panthers Challenger Flag Football League coaches and peers, Olsen introduced Adcock as an assistant coach in the program and commended his involvement with the league.
"I heard you're the coach, you got all the plays and secret stuff?" Olsen asked.
Amidst a confident "yes" from Adcock, Olsen unveiled two surprise tickets to this year's Super Bowl (in addition to airfare and hotel) – a trip that Adcock will take with his brother Jonathan.
Adcock joined the Panthers Challenger Flag Football League as a player when it started 13 years ago. At the time, there were approximately 70 kids in the program, and Adcock quickly emerged as the "locker room leader." He took his role seriously and despite ageing out out of the program eight years ago, his commitment to the league remains unwavering. He entered into Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation's volunteer certification program so that he could stay involved and still returns every season to bring to joy to the field and remind players to keep pounding.
