Super Bowl Bye Week: Panthers Quotes 1/27

GUARD TRAI TURNER

On team togetherness: "Not everything is going to go your way on Sundays. I feel like the comradery of this team, the personality of this team and genuinely being ourselves and being able to be yourself comfortably around one another, that just picks everyone up. That also helps when you make mistakes. Guys know what you can and cannot do. Guys know your strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes mishaps just happen, and when you have guys like this in the locker room that is built and formed like this, you can get a pick-me-up from coaches, from staff, trainers or from whoever that may be. That just gets the spark back going, and that's how we have been able to keep rolling."

On being in Super Bowl two years removed from college: "I never sat back and thought about it to be honest about it. I say this in the most humbling way: I just feel like I'm supposed to. I never say, 'Oh, we are not supposed to be here or we weren't supposed to win the game.' It's not that I don't have a doubt, but I'm never going to put myself in that situation to put myself under or beneath something. Everything that is in front of me I feel like I'm supposed to do, I'm supposed to conquer it, we are supposed to win, we are supposed to get Pro Bowls, we are supposed to have a MVP quarterback. It's just the way it's supposed to be, and when it's not happening like that you are supposed to change it. "

OT MICHAEL OHER

On personal satisfaction about season: "I'm still working and trying to get better right now. Let's see how this game goes. I don't normally judge seasons until I'm done playing. Let's see how this next week goes, and if we win that then it will be a magnificent year."

On emotions after NFC title game: "I was a little bit excited, but I know we still have another game to play. You can't get too excited. We have to finish. We are playing a long way and those were the only emotions that I had is that we have to finish."

On the challenge posed by Denver's defensive line: "They are a talented group across the board. It's going to be a great challenge, but the thing about it is we have experienced coaches on the offensive side of the ball who have seen a lot of different things from every position. We will continue to work and continue to study film, and I think we will be all right."

CB CHARLES TILLMAN

On challenged posed by Peyton Manning: "I think Peyton is in a league of his own. I definitely think it will be a challenge for us, but we are definitely willing to accept that challenge."

On Manning in the twilight of his career: "You can say what you want about him, but he got his team to the Super Bowl. I don't think arm strength really matters at this point in time. If he continues to do what he has done, it has been successful for him. It's our job to interrupt that so he is not as successful."

On Manning's top receiving targets: "They are very competitive. They compete for the football. At the same time, we are very competitive and we compete for the ball as well. I think you will see some true, good old-fashioned competition when

WR DEVIN FUNCHESS

On Denver's defensive backs: "Going into this game, we are going to be three back-to-back-to-back - Seattle, Arizona and then them. You just have to go in with the same mindset we went in with Seattle and Arizona and go in there, hold our own and keep fighting."

On the reality of playing in the Super Bowl: "It hit me after the (NFC title) game and when my granddad called me. I was just chilling with it. I was excited and lost my voice and all that. But come today, we have to get back to work."

On enjoying first Super Bowl experience: "I enjoy it all the time. That's why you always see a smile on my face when I walk out there. I've got the easiest job in the world because I actually like it. Some people are sitting at a desk, typing on a computer, and it's just not me. I picked this profession, so I'm excited I get to do it and that I can do it with a smile on my face."

WR TED GINN, JR.

On "frustrating" aspects of Super Bowl week: "Media. But it's a good frustration I would say. You have media. You have different events you have to go to show who you are and get some rewards for what you did throughout the year. But in the same sense you are really here to play a football game, so you really want to concentrate on football and get a victory."

On enjoying the week: "I don't think that you can't not enjoy the moment. When you go down there, there is so much stuff for everybody to do, no matter if you are the number one guy on the team or a guy helping us all year. You are going to be able to go out there, enjoy yourself and have fun. It's open for everybody, and it's going to be a great time."

On winning formual for Super Bowl: "When you win a championship, they say defense is the thing that helps you win. You just have to go out there, compete and play with passion. You know what Peyton Manning can do on the offensive side, so you somewhat try to compete with him on the defensive side. But in the same sense you just have to go out and play your play."
