Inactives: Donte Jackson active; Colin Jones starting

CHARLOTTE - Rookie Donte Jackson, the Panthers' starting cornerback opposite James Bradberry, is active and is expected to start against the Bengals.

Jackson, who didn't practice until Friday because of a groin injury, will be joined in the defensive backfield by veteran Colin Jones, who will start at safety alongside Mike Adams. Starting safety Da'Norris Searcy was placed on injured reserve Friday after suffering a second concussion since the preseason.

Cornerback Josh Hawkins, signed from the practice squad Saturday, is active, as is defensive end Efe Obada, an international player set to make his NFL debut.

Wide receiver Damiere Byrd, listed as questionable with a knee injury, is inactive for the second consecutive week.
