Panthers add linebacker, safety for Falcons game

RosterMoves

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some depth on defense for Sunday's game against the Falcons prior to takeoff on Saturday.

The team activated linebacker Krys Barnes and safety Israel Mukuamu from the practice squad by standard elevation.

With starting inside linebacker Trevin Wallace and rookie safety Lathan Ransom ruled out with injuries, the Panthers brought up reinforcements who can help on special teams.

This is Barnes' second activation and Mukuamu's first. Players get a maximum of three elevations from the practice squad per year, before they'd have to be added to the active roster to appear in another game.

Barnes, who was up for the Miami game, has appeared in 69 games with 30 starts during his career, with stints with the Packers and Cardinals. Mukuamu, a University of South Carolina product, has appeared in 50 games with three starts during his four seasons with the Cowboys.
