CHARLOTTE -- The Panthers have signed quarterback Connor Cook to the practice squad after cutting rookie defensive tackle Kendrick Norton, a seventh-round pick.

Cook was drafted in the fourth round by the Raiders in 2016. He got his first regular season game action as a rookie in the regular season finale, entering the game with Oakland's top two quarterbacks injured. Cook then made his first career start the next week in the AFC Wild Card against the Texans, completing 18-of-45 passes for 161 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions in the loss.

Cook did not play in 2017 and he was released on cutdown day.

The Panthers made another roster move Thursday, reaching an injury settlement with offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles, who is now released from injured reserve.
