Panthers to award fitness grants

The Carolina Panthers are encouraging elementary and middle schools to help celebrate "Carolina Panthers Play 60 Friday" this spring. Show your creativity and get your students up and moving. Participating schools are eligible for one of five fitness grants from Carolina Panthers Charities.

Who: Elementary and middle schools in North and South Carolina.
What: Organize a class, grade or school-wide Panthers Play 60 fitness activity. Be creative. There are no limits to what you can do. The only criteria is getting students up and moving. Panthers Play 60 Friday can be integrated into your school's scheduled field day. Don't forget to encourage students to wear black and blue and show off their Panthers pride.
When: Entries are due June 15, 2011.
How To Enter: Send an e-mail to community.relations@panthers.nfl.com and include the following information:
1. Attach event pictures and/or video links. Post videos on schooltube.com and title video: "Panthers Play 60 Friday (School Name)".
2. Activity description in 250 words or less and the number of kids that participated in the activity.
3. School contact name, school name, school address and school telephone number.
Prizes: 1st - $1,500 fitness grant plus a Panthers Play 60 pep rally, featuring Panthers players, TopCats cheerleaders and team mascot Sir Purr.
2nd - $1,500 fitness grant
3rd - $1,000 fitness grant
4th - $500 fitness grant
5th - $500 fitness grant
