Brandon Zylstra, Deonte Brown designated to return from IR

Brandon Zylstra

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers are getting two more players back on the practice field Wednesday, possibly adding some depth on offense soon.

Wide receiver Brandon Zylstra and guard Deonte Brown were designated to return from injured reserve, and are expected to practice today. The move starts the 21-day clock for them to be activated, though they can be added to the active roster at any time.

Zylstra went on IR in Week 7 with a hamstring strain suffered in the Minnesota game. Brown was placed on IR in Week 6 with a knee issue.

Getting Zylstra back helps fill in several gaps, as he's a key special teams player and a contributor on offense. He had eight catches for 139 yards and a touchdown in the first six games.

Brown gets back on the field at a time when the offensive line is ailing.

They just placed starting center Matt Paradis and left tackle Cameron Erving on IR Monday, where they join right guard John Miller.

The Panthers also added veteran guard Patrick Omameh to the practice squad, and finalized the signing of quarterback Matt Barkley to the active roster.
