Panthers announce return of Big Friday High School Football series to American Legion Memorial Stadium

CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers are welcoming high school football back to the newly-renovated American Legion Memorial Stadium with the "Carolina Panthers Big Friday High School Football" series. The three-game package features a powerhouse line-up of highly-ranked teams and anticipated match ups.

Big Friday kicks off with a special Saturday edition on Saturday, August 28 as the third-ranked Butler Bulldogs host perennial state power Richmond Senior. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. Advanced tickets can be purchased on-line via www.varsitytix.com or on game day at the Memorial Stadium box office. General admission seating is $7.

"The Carolina Panthers and our partners are pleased to support high school football through the team's Big Friday series," said Panthers director of community relations Riley Fields. "The newly-refurbished American Legion Memorial Stadium is an incredible venue for high school football. Longtime high school football fans will recall the popular Big Friday series at Memorial Stadium which ran from 1996-2002 during a golden era of high school football in the Charlotte region. We are looking forward to honoring that legacy by providing a memorable experience for players, fans and the community with the new Big Friday series."

Team partners WSOC-TV, Gatorade, GMC will provide added support to Big Friday with game promotion, game day assets for teams, and the GMC Youth Football Players of the Game, which will provide a special game day experience for local youth football teams. Carolina Panthers Charities will provide a $2500 grant to the school with the best student section at each game. Each Big Friday game will also feature Panthers personalities and other special Panthers game elements.
