Panthers sign Isaiah Simmons to active roster, place Trevin Wallace on IR

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers now employ two of the top 10 picks in the 2020 NFL draft on their active roster.

The team signed linebacker Isaiah Simmons from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday.

Simmons had been on the practice squad, and they used his limit of three standard elevations, so he needed to be on the 53-man roster to play again.

Simmons has played mostly on special teams in those three games, with one snap on defense.

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Clemson, Simmons was taken by the Cardinals one spot after the Panthers took defensive tackle Derrick Brown.

The Carolina Panthers face the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025 at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

To make room for him on the active roster, they placed linebacker Trevin Wallace on injured reserve.

Wallace had season-ending shoulder surgery this week. Claudin Cherelus will continue to start next to Christian Rozeboom in his place.

The Panthers did not activate either wide receiver David Moore or guard Robert Hunt from injured reserve this week, so their status was downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Moore has practiced for two weeks of his three-week window to be activated, while Hunt practiced this week for the first time since going on IR following Week 2 with a torn biceps.
