Mascaro/Barton Malow, a joint venture, and the South Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Administration (SC OSHA) entered into a limited partnership on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, to provide the safest possible work environment for all workers and subcontractors on the Carolina Panthers Rock Hill Development project in Rock Hill, S.C.
With this partnership, SC OSHA will visit the site regularly to help identify and correct potential hazards and also will provide training and incentives to participating contractors who voluntarily improve their safety and health performance.
"I commend Mascaro/Barton Malow for its commitment to going above and beyond to provide a safe and healthy worksite for employees who will be working on the Carolina Panthers project in our state," LLR Director Emily Farr said. "Our SC OSHA team looks forward to providing training and other assistance throughout the life of this project."
This agreement with Mascaro/Barton Malow is consistent with SC OSHA's long-range efforts to develop workplace safety partnerships within the construction industry. It allows for better use of SC OSHA resources, fosters innovation in safety management, and encourages active participation in the safety process on the part of construction/trade association communities.
One of the long-term benefits of partnerships like this one is that subcontractors and workers take what they learn about safety at the Carolina Panthers Rock Hill Development project site to future construction worksites.
The Carolina Panthers Rock Hill Development is an innovative mixed-use, pedestrian friendly community anchored by the Carolina Panthers practice facility and headquarters on a 240-acre site adjacent to I-77. The development will not only include a world-class sports complex, but also be a true destination site for the entire region, offering entertainment, dining, retail, athletics and medical care.
