Donte Jackson headed to injured reserve

Donte Jackson

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers lost another starter for the season after Sunday's game in Miami.

The Panthers placed cornerback Donte Jackson on injured reserve Tuesday.

Jackson suffered a groin injury late in the loss to the Dolphins. He had an MRI Monday afternoon which revealed the extent of the injury. He will be out the remainder of the season.

Jackson, a team captain this year, had two interceptions this season. He has 12 picks in his four seasons, the most of any player in the 2018 NFL Draft class.

He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

The injury leaves the Panthers with Stephon Gilmore, A.J. Bouye, CJ Henderson, and Keith Taylor Jr. at the position, along with veteran Rashaan Melvin.

The Panthers filled the roster spot Tuesday by activating guard Deonte Brown. He had been designated to return from IR, after missing time with a knee injury.
