Kamal Martin signed to active roster from practice squad

roster move

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some depth at inside linebacker Monday, after Shaq Thompson had some issues in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.

The Panthers signed linebacker Kamal Martin from the practice squad.

To make room for him on the roster, they waived guard Michael Jordan. He was claimed off waivers earlier this year, but hasn't been active for a game.

Martin was a fifth-round pick of the Packers in 2020, and started six games for them last year.

The Panthers used one of their four practice squad protection spots for him last week, an indication they liked what they've seen of him in practice.

Thompson left Sunday's game and was getting his foot checked on the sidelines, but he returned to the game. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule mentioned some players were getting MRIs Monday, but didn't specifically mention Thompson.
