Kawann Short active for Monday Night Football

Kawann Short runs out for introductions

CHARLOTTE - Defensive tackle Kawann Short is active for the Monday Night Football showdown with the Saints.

Short suffered a calf injury in practice Thursday and didn't participate the rest of the week. He was listed as doubtful when the injury report came out Saturday but was upgraded to questionable Sunday.

Short has just three sacks so far this season, but the former Pro Bowler could be a catalyst in the front four's efforts to get after Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Fellow defensive tackle Vernon Butler is active after being a healthy scratch the previous two games. Defensive ends Efe Obada and Marquis Haynes are inactive.
