Panthers players will honor meaningful causes on cleats

Derrick Brown

When the Panthers host the Broncos on Sunday, several players will wear custom cleats to honor and raise awareness for different issues that are important to them.

The annual NFL initiative, My Cause My Cleats, promotes league-wide action and engagement from players and fans with worthy causes and organizations that have meaningful connections to players and coaches.

Players do that by wearing custom-designed cleats for one game every season and using their platform to deliver their messages.

Here are the causes Panthers' players will be advocating for this season:

This season, a number of players partnered with Charlotte is Creative, collaborating with a number of the local artists who painted the Black Lives Matter mural in Uptown Charlotte. These artists created their own artistic renditions of the cause for Panthers' players on their cleats.

They included Chad Cartwright (Tyler Larsen), DeNeer Davis (Michael Schofield, Brandon Zylstra), Lo'Vonia Parks (Corn Elder), Marcus Kiser (Aaron Monteiro), Frankie Zombie (Tahir Whitehead) and Destiny Wilson (Colin Thompson).
