CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some depth for Sunday's game against the Bills by promoting a couple of players from the practice squad.

The team activated outside linebacker Boogie Basham and quarterback Hendon Hooker from the practice squad by standard elevation for Week 8.

It's the third and final elevation for Basham this season. To play again, he'd have to be added to the 53-man roster.

Hooker is expected to back up starter Andy Dalton this week, given Bryce Young's ankle injury, which has him listed as doubtful.

Young could still be listed as an inactive emergency third quarterback on Sunday, but Hooker can't, since emergency third QBs have to be actual quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, and the Panthers only have two of those.
