Panthers place Matt Barkley on reserve/COVID-19 list

Matt Barkley

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers placed quarterback Matt Barkley on the league's reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.

Players who are vaccinated are eligible to return as soon as they have two negative tests with 24 hours between them, as long as they remain asymptomatic.

Barkley has served as the team's third quarterback since joining the team the same week as Cam Newton.

The 31-year-old hasn't played in a game since joining the team. He was active in Arizona but didn't play, and has been inactive for each game since then.
