SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After a rash of injuries in the secondary, the Panthers needed help.

They found it in Alex Carter, a 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back who was most recently with the Seattle Seahawks during last year's training camp. Carter, who can play corner and safety, joined the Panthers in time for Sunday's training camp practice at Wofford College.

Carter was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He has played in one game and has not recorded any statistics.

To make room on the roster, the Panthers placed safety Damian Parms on injured reserve. Parms was injured in the preseason opener at Buffalo.
