CHARLOTTE -- The Panthers have signed running back Travaris Cadet to a one-year deal to fill the roster spot previously held by C.J. Anderson, who was waived on Monday.

Cadet, 6-1 and 210 pounds, is in his seventh NFL season and previously played for New Orleans (2012-14, 2015-17), New England (2015), San Francisco (2015), the New York Jets (2017) and Buffalo (2017).

His 2017 season ended in Week 16 when he suffered a severe ankle injury, but he recovered in time to earn a one-year deal from the Bills this past offseason. He was ultimately cut when Buffalo finalized the 53-man roster.

Cadet has seen action in 72 career games, totaling 49 carries for 180 yards and 118 receptions for 959 yards and seven touchdowns. He's also returned 63 kickoffs for 1,531 yards (24.3-yard average).

Cadet played collegiately at Appalachian State University and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Saints in 2012.
