CHARLOTTE — The Panthers knew the who. Now they know the when.

Their first home playoff game in a decade in Bank of America Stadium will be played next Saturday, Jan. 10, at 4:30 p.m.

The game against the Rams will be broadcast by FOX.

The Panthers beat the Rams here on Nov. 30, and players and coaches alike cited the influence of the crowd in the result — specifically on Derrick Brown's game-sealing strip sack of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

"I'm just so excited to be in Bank of America Stadium one more time," Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Sunday night, after watching the Falcons beat the Saints to help them clinch the division. "The energy that's been there at the end of our season as we continue to build momentum and the fans showing up early, being loud, causing problems for the opponent's offense. I know what type of an advantage that can be for us, and so I'm so excited to be here.

"Obviously, all of us, being right at home, sleeping in our own beds and being able to attack it one more time, it's such a cool opportunity and it all starts off with winning the division first and we were able to be in that position to get that done, so it's exciting."

This will be the first playoff game in Bank of America Stadium since the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 24, 2016, when the Panthers beat the Cardinals 49-15 to advance to Super Bowl 50.

And no one who was there that night will ever forget the atmosphere, and what it was like when Charlotte came alive.

"I'm literally getting chills right now just thinking about it, right?" former linebacker Thomas Davis said. "How electric that environment was."

Of course, coming at the end of a 15-1 regular season helped, but that atmosphere was one players said helped carry them to the NFC Championship.

"It was a perfect night," linebacker Luke Kuechly said. "It was perfect playoff football."

And now the current Panthers team has a chance to make that kind of memory.
