Check out a feature on the defensive tackle's journey from an extremely difficult neighborhood to NFL stardom with the Panthers, and his desire to give back.

CHARLOTTE – Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears will be a special one for Kawann Short.

The Pro Bowl defensive tackle is from East Chicago, Indiana – which is less than an hour away from Solider Field – and this is the first time in his NFL career he's had the chance to play so close to home.

Family and friends will be in attendance for his homecoming. And the kids who look up to him will surely be watching No. 99 in white.

The video feature above from "Football Saturdays" reveals Short's challenging journey from an extremely difficult neighborhood to NFL stardom. It also reveals Short's determination to make a positive impact on the youth who are experiencing what he went through in East Chicago.

Additionally, Short recently penned an "In My Own Words" feature to tell his story of overcoming the odds and giving back.
