SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Reserve defensive tackle Chas Alecxih was carted off the practice field Sunday after suffering what appeared to be a significant knee injury.

"It didn't look good," head coach Ron Rivera said. "They were examining the knee, and we'll do a further examination tomorrow. But the prognosis right now is very dark."

Alecxih suffered the injury during a 2-on-2 drill between offensive and defensive linemen. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his knee in pain. After he was loaded onto the card, several teammates came by to console him.

"I hate to say this, but it's one of those things that's inevitable," Rivera said of the first major camp injury. "The young man was having a great camp and that's always the disappointment, too. He really worked very hard and was earning the opportunity. You feel for the young man. That's the unfortunate part of this game."
