HOUSTON — Backup quarterback Andy Dalton left the game after one series because of a right elbow injury.
Dalton played one series, a total of six snaps.
The 37-year-old backup completed 2-of-4 passes for 22 yards during his brief time on the field.
He threw a couple of passes on the sideline after getting checked by the athletic training staff, they put a black protective sleeve on his elbow, and he then huddled with staffers again. He remained on the sidelines in uniform, standing next to the rest of the quarterbacks.
He was replaced by third-stringer Jack Plummer in the second quarter.
Starting quarterback Bryce Young and the starters played two series, but went three-and-out on both.
