CHARLOTTE – Safety Kurt Coleman sprained his left MCL during Sunday's victory over the New England Patriots. The injury typically requires a month of recovery time.

The injury occurred early in the second quarter when Coleman's knee buckled as he was hit from behind trying to defend an outside run play.

With Coleman sidelined, the Panthers turned to rookie Demetrious Cox alongside veteran Mike Adams. Although Cox "tweaked" his ankle, he said he's confident he'll be able to play this week.

Behind Adams and Cox on the safety depth chart is veteran Colin Jones, who is known more for his special teams ability. Carolina also has Dezmen Southward and Damian Parms on the practice squad.
