With quarterback Cam Newton and running back Jonathan Stewart out with injuries, their replacements put Carolina in position to possibly pull out the victory. Running back Cameron Artis-Payne (19 carries, 55 yards) gave the Panthers a 10-3 lead with a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, then quarterback Derek Anderson connected with wide receiver Devin Funchess early in the fourth quarter for an 11-yard score that put Carolina back ahead at 17-13.

Tampa Bay, however, controlled things from there. While Anderson tossed two interceptions, Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston avoided turnovers, and his 23-yard strike to tight end Cameron Brate gave Tampa the lead for good. Rookie Roberto Aguayo added his third and fourth field goals down the stretch to seal the deal.

Player of the Game: Winston avoided the mistakes that he haunted him all season and tossed two touchdown passes, completing 18-of-27 passes for 204 yards.
