CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added a familiar face back to the practice squad on Wednesday, adding some depth at a needed position.
The team signed linebacker Jacoby Windmon to the practice squad.
Windmon spent time here on the active roster and practice squad last year, appearing in eight games with two starts. He had 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits, and two passes defensed last year.
He was released in cuts to the 53 this year, and spent a few weeks on the Steelers practice squad in October.
The 24-year-old Windmon played at Michigan State and UNLV, where he was with Panthers linebackers coach Pete Hansen.
The Panthers are thin there at the moment, with Christian Rozeboom and Trevin Wallace dealing with injuries. They finished Sunday's win over the Falcons with Claudin Cherelus and Maema Njongmeta on the field.
