CHARLOTTE — Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is back in the winning column, and back on top of the rookie yardage list.
So he's back up for the league's rookie of the week award.
McMillan was nominated for the league's weekly award after putting up eight catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the 30-27 overtime win against the Falcons.
With the big game, he also moved ahead of Tampa Bay's Emeka Egbuka on the rookie yardage list.
McMillan now has 54 catches for 748 yards this season, along with four touchdowns. Egbuka has 45 catches for 717 yards and six scores this year, filling in for an injured Buccaneers receiving group.
Making it sweeter for McMillan was getting everyone else involved, as was evidenced when he copied teammate Xavier Legette's Dolla Bill celebration when Legette pulled in a 36-yard touchdown from Bryce Young. His 27 percent target share was the second-lowest of the season, but he's fine with that when everyone eats. Young spread the ball to nine different pass-catchers Sunday, as he set a franchise record with 448 passing yards.
"Shoot, honestly, I think we were executing all cylinders, every receiver was going off, just kind of expanding the offense and opening up holes for us. And so I wouldn't be able to do it by myself at all," McMillan said. "I mean, that's big, our guys, the tight end room, the running backs, and especially our receivers coming in and making plays, you know, that's huge just to fly around and execute on all cylinders.
"It only makes my job easier, makes Bryce's job easier, and makes the play caller's job easier just so that they can rely on any player on the offense."
McMillan, the No. 8 overall pick this year, also won the award in Week 6, after his other two-touchdown game against the Cowboys.
