ATLANTA — Take a look inside some of the key numbers and stats, as well as the snap counts, from the Panthers' 30-27 overtime win over the Falcons in Week 11.
- Bryce Young set a new career-high and franchise-record for 448 passing yards in the win. He finished 31-of-45 with three touchdowns and no turnovers, and a 123.2 passer rating.
- Young's passing yardage passed the previous franchise record of 432 yards set by Cam Newton versus Green Bay (Sept. 18, 2011).
- Sunday marked the third career game of 300-plus yards passing. Young also tied a career high for touchdown passes. He has previously thrown three touchdowns in four games (including last year in Atlanta).
- Young is the fifth player in NFL history under the age of 25 with at least 30 completions, 425 passing yards, three touchdown passes and no interceptions in a game, joining Drew Bledsoe, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes (twice) and C.J. Stroud.
- Young engineered the game-winning six-play, 60-yard drive in overtime, marking the 10th game-winning drive of his career. This is the most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2023. He breaks a tie with Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes and Geno Smith, who all have nine.
- Young becomes the 10th quarterback since 2000 with at least 10 game-winning drives in his first three seasons.
- This was the fourth game-winning drive this season alone.
- According to Next Gen Stats, Young completed 10-of-15 passes for a career-high 212 yards and two touchdowns on downfield passes of 10-plus air yards.
- Young also completed 15-of-20 passes in-rhythm (time to throw between 2.5 and 4 seconds) for 302 yards, the second-most by any player this season, and a touchdown. He was pressured 19 times, the second-most he's faced this season, taking 5.0 sacks but still completed 8-of-14 passes under pressure for 138 yards.
- There were completions to nine difference receivers.
- Young and the receivers connected for 12 receptions of 15-plus yards, with nine completions of 20-plus yards.
- Panthers tied a team record for the most passing first downs in a game with 18. This was previously accomplished only three times – at the New York Giants (Dec. 20, 2015), at New Orleans (Oct. 16, 2016) and at Atlanta (Sept. 16, 2018).
- Tight end Tommy Tremble had a 54-yard reception in overtime that set up the game-winning field goal. It was the longest reception of Tremble's career.
- Tetairoa McMillan set career highs with eight receptions and 130 receiving yards, and tied his career high with two receiving touchdown.
- McMillan leads all Panthers' pass-catchers with 54 receptions for 748 yards and four touchdowns.
- With the performance on Sunday, McMillan is now the leading rookie receiver in the NFL, surpassing the Bucs' Emeka Egbuka (45-717-6).
- Receiver Xavier Legette finished with four receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, his third of the season.
- Legette's 36-yard touchdown helped spark the Panthers' comeback rally. It was also the longest catch of his NFL career thus far.
- Running back Rico Dowdle finished with 45 yards rushing on 19 attempts.
- He also added five receptions for 55 yards, for a total of 100 scrimmage yards.
- The performance helped Dowdle top 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the season.
- Dowdle leads the team in rushing with 833 yards and five touchdowns on 168 carries. He also has a team-high 1,030 scrimmage yards.
- Rookie kicker Ryan Fitzgerald kicked the game-winning 28-yard field goal in overtime.
- This is Fitzgerald's third game-winning, walk-off field goal this season. His previous two were versus Dallas and versus Green Bay.
- Fitzgerald also added two other field goals; from 29 and 34 yards.
- The Panthers forced one turnover against the Falcons. It was on a kickoff return, when Bam Martin-Scott forced a fumble on Natrone Brooks. Princely Umanmielen recovered the fumble to give Panthers possession.
- The offense didn't commit any turnovers, marking the third turnover-free game this season.
- Safety Tre'von Moehrig finished with a team-high 11 tackles. This equaled his previous season high in Week 1.
- This is the third week this season that Moehrig has led the Panthers in tackles.
- Linebacker Claudin Cherelus, stepping in for Trevin Wallace (shoulder), finished with a career-high 10 tackles.
Snap Counts
Take a look at the snap counts and playtime percentage for the Panthers in Week 11 of the regular season against the Falcons.
| Player | Offensive Snaps | Special Teams Snaps |
|---|---|---|
| Chandler Zavala | 80 (100%) | 4 (13%) |
| Damien Lewis | 80 (100%) | 4 (13%) |
| Ikem Ekwonu | 80 (100%) | 4 (13%) |
| Taylor Moton | 80 (100%) | 4 (13%) |
| Cade Mays | 80 (100%) | |
| Bryce Young | 80 (100%) | |
| Tetairoa McMillan | 69 (86%) | |
| Rico Dowdle | 66 (82%) | 1 (3%) |
| Jalen Coker | 54 (68%) | |
| Tommy Tremble | 46 (57%) | 6 (20%) |
| Xavier Legette | 44 (55%) | |
| Ja'Tavion Sanders | 38 (48%) | 13 (53%) |
| Mitchell Evans | 30 (38%) | 6 (20%) |
| Brycen Tremayne | 27 (34%) | 20 (67%) |
| Chuba Hubbard | 15 (19%) | 5 (17%) |
| Jimmy Horn | 7 (9%) | |
| Trevor Etienne | 4 (5%) | 11 (37%) |
- For all the other stats Bryce Young put up Sunday, and there were a lot, this one might be most impressive. He didn't miss a single snap because of the ankle injury that had him limping heavily through the postgame celebration. The kid is tough.
- Also, 80 snaps are a lot, and explain some of the adjustments in receiver snaps. Xavier Legette played just 55 percent of them, fewer than Tetairoa McMillan (86 percent) and Jalen Coker (68 percent). But when you're sprinting downfield at his size, that's a significant expenditure of energy.
- It was another big three-tight-end day, with third Mitchell Evans getting 38 percent of the snaps, indicating how far he's come as both a blocker and a receiver (he was the first of nine players to catch a pass from Young Sunday).
| Player | Defensive Snaps | Special Teams Snaps |
|---|---|---|
| Mike Jackson | 66 (100%) | 6 (20%) |
| Tre'von Moehrig | 66 (100%) | 4 (13%) |
| Jaycee Horn | 66 (100%) | |
| Nick Scott | 64 (97%) | 3 (10%) |
| Tershawn Wharton | 57 (86%) | |
| Christian Rozeboom | 54 (82%) | |
| Claudin Cherelus | 52 (79%) | 9 (30%) |
| Nic Scourton | 48 (73%) | 5 (17%) |
| DJ Wonnum | 47 (71%) | 1 (3%) |
| Derrick Brown | 46 (70%) | 6 (20%) |
| Corey Thornton | 46 (70%) | 4 (13%) |
| Trevis Gipson | 22 (33%) | 16 (53%) |
| Princely Umanmielen | 19 (29%) | 11 (37%) |
| A'Shawn Robinson | 19 (29%) | 6 (20%) |
| Bobby Brown III | 16 (24%) | 6 (20%) |
| LaBryan Ray | 16 (24%) | |
| Chau Smith-Wade | 15 (23%) | 17 (57%) |
| Maema Njongmeta | 5 (8%) | 20 (67%) |
| Demani Richardson | 2 (3%) | 13 (43%) |
- The biggest shift in defensive snaps was from cornerback Corey Thornton, who played 70 percent of them. Those 46 snaps of defense were nearly more than he played on defense in the first 10 games combined (49). With the Falcons intent on spreading the field (and with big receivers), he got more work than their normal nickel Chau Smith-Wade (23 percent of the snaps Sunday).
- With so much of the game spent in multiple-defensive back settings, the defensive line snaps had a bigger gap in them. Tershawn Wharton (57 total, 86 percent) and Derrick Brown (46 total, 70 percent) got their usual loads, and then A'Shawn Robinson, Bobby Brown III, and LaBryan Ray played 51 total snaps between them, all between 24 and 29 percent. They've found a rotation that works for them.
- Credit to Maema Njongmeta for stepping in late and finishing. He played his first defensive snaps of the year at linebacker in the late stages of the game, stepping in for an injured Christian Rozeboom. He's played well on special teams since arriving.
| Player | Special Teams Snaps |
|---|---|
| Thomas Incoom | 26 (87%) |
| Bam Martin-Scott | 20 (67%) |
| Krys Barnes | 16 (53%) |
| Akayleb Evans | 14 (47%) |
| Israel Mukuamu | 11 (37%) |
| Ryan Fitzgerald | 11 (37%) |
| Sam Martin | 7 (23%) |
| JJ Jansen | 7 (23%) |
| Jake Curhan | 4 (13%) |
| Austin Corbett | 4 (13%) |
| Yosh Nijman | 4 (13%) |
- It's always a good day when the kicker has more snaps than the punter, and Ryan Fitzgerald's 11 to Sam Martin's seven points to all the sweet, sweet points being scored that require a subsequent kickoff.
- We mentioned high-energy snaps, and the 26 on special teams played by Thomas Incoom qualify. He's a 100-percent effort player, even if he's only playing 87 percent of the snaps in the kicking game (and that's a lot).
- Practice squad elevations Krys Barnes and Israel Mukuamu were limited to special teams work, and Mukuamu made his Panthers debut.
