Panthers add defensive lineman, release quarterback

RosterMoves

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made a number of moves on Saturday, to add depth at a couple of positions ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints.

They signed defensive tackle Jared Harrison-Hunte from the practice squad to the active roster.

The undrafted rookie from SMU is now the 12th rookie on the active roster, and the seventh defensive lineman, along with starters Derrick Brown, A'Shawn Robinson, and Tershawn Wharton, along with Bobby Brown III, LaBryan Ray, and Cam Jackson.

To make room for him on the active roster, they waived veteran quarterback Mike White (after the trade deadline, veteran players are also subject to waivers). White was the emergency third quarterback last week in Green Bay, with Bryce coming off an ankle injury and Andy recovering from a thumb issue.

Neither quarterback appeared on the injury report this week.

They also activated practice squad wide receiver Dan Chisena to the active roster by standard elevation for Week 10.

He played in seven games for the Panthers last year, and caught the first three passes of his NFL career. He's been in the league since 2020, and is an excellent special teams player. He adds some insurance with Tetairoa McMillan and Brycen Tremayne listed as questionable on the final injury report.
