CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought back a familiar face on Wednesday afternoon, re-signing safety Demani Richardson to the practice squad.

They waived Richardson on Tuesday, and he cleared waivers and returned.

Richardson made the team last year as an undrafted rookie and started five games, but had been inactive each of the last four weeks of the regular season. He also started the Rams game, when Tre'von Moehrig was suspended.

To make room on the practice squad for him, they released cornerback Michael Reid.
