CHARLOTTE - The Panthers signed free agent wide receiver Brenton Bersin on Wednesday to fill the roster spot vacated by Kelvin Benjamin after he was traded to the Buffalo Bills.

Bersin played in 10 games for Carolina last year, tallying two catches for 17 yards. He stayed on with the team through the 2017 training camp, but was put on injured reserve with a shoulder injury at the beginning of September and terminated as a vested veteran two weeks later.

Bersin has played in 34 games with three starts in his four-year career, all with the Panthers. He has totaled 287 yards receiving with one receiving touchdown, coming back in 2014. He also returned 14 punts and seven kickoffs that season.

He was initially signed as an undrafted free agent by Carolina out of Wofford back in 2012.
