FOXBORO -- Cam Newton's preseason debut ended with him walking to the locker room late in the first quarter.

The star quarterback suffered a foot injury when he was sacked by Patriots defensive lineman Adam Butler on third down to end Newton's third series.

Newton limped off the field and was briefly examined on the sideline. He took a seat on the bench and then was escorted to the locker room by medical staff.

Newton completed 4-of-6 passes for 30 yards before leaving the game. He was sacked twice.
