Panthers place A.J. Bouye on injured reserve

A.J. Bouye

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers entered the year with a deep secondary, and kept adding to it.

Now, they've put their third cornerback this year on injured reserve.

The Panthers placed veteran A.J. Bouye on injured reserve Tuesday, where he joins Donte Jackson and rookie Jaycee Horn.

Bouye was dealing with a foot injury.

That leaves them thinner at corner, though they still have mid-season acquisitions Stephon Gilmore and CJ Henderson at the position, along with rookie Keith Taylor Jr., veteran Rashaan Melvin, and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III.

The Panthers replaced him on the roster by claiming defensive end Azur Kamara off waivers from the Cowboys.

Kamara was an undrafted rookie from Kansas in 2020 who spent his rookie year on injured reserve. He appeared in 10 games for the Cowboys this season. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Kamara had one tackle against the Panthers in Week 4.

The Panthers also waived running back Jacques Patrick from the practice squad.
