CHARLOTTE — Now the Panthers have a depth chart with someone on every line.

The team agreed to terms with veteran punter Sam Martin on Monday on a two-year deal, bringing the Appalachian State product back.

The 36-year-old Martin punted well last year and was ninth in the league with 27 punts inside the 20, 48.2 percent of his punts (sixth by percentage). He dropped 19.6 percent of his punts inside the 10, tied for fifth-most in the league.

The Carolina Panthers face the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.

He also converted a successful onside kick in Week 2. Since the league changed the onside kick rules in 2018, only eight players have converted more than two (he has three), and he's the only punter.

His addition means the Panthers have every position covered, and keeps stability with long snapper JJ Jansen and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald after a solid year.
