Panthers re-sign two of their own

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought two more players back for the 2026 season, adding to their depth on both sides of the ball.

The team re-signed outside linebacker Trevis Gipson and tight end James Mitchell to one-year deals on Monday.

Gipson was a midseason addition who played a valuable role on defense last year.

The Carolina Panthers face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025 at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

The 28-year-old, who was signed off the 49ers practice squad in October, played in nine games as a rotational pass-rusher. He had a sack and a tackle for loss in the playoff game against the Rams, and provided some needed ballast to a young lineup.

Originally a fifth-round pick of the Bears, he's also spent time with the Titans, Jaguars, and Seahawks.

James Mitchell

Mitchell, 26, was signed last offseason after three years with the Lions. He appeared in five games last year and caught three passes for 28 yards.

He provided good depth when starter Ja'Tavion Sanders missed time with injuries.

With those additions, the roster stands at 71.
