CHARLOTTE — The Panthers were without seven players in practice Wednesday, as they began their work for this week's trip to New England.

Wide receivers Tetairoa McMillan (calf) and Xavier Legette (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. Legette was inactive last week against the Falcons. Veteran Hunter Renfrow (not-injury-related/personal) was also absent.

The Panthers were also without tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle), who left last week's game.

Outside linebackers Patrick Jones II (hamstring) and D.J. Wonnum (hip) were also held out, along with defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton (hamstring). Jones and Wharton missed last week's game.

Three players were listed as limited with not-injury-related/rest designations. That group included running back Rico Dowdle, cornerback Jaycee Horn, and right tackle Taylor Moton.

Carolina is 4-4 all-time against the Patriots. The teams faced off in Super Bowl XXXVIII at the end of the 2003 season.
