Injury Report Week 16: Veterans Rest Up

CHARLOTTE -- A number of Panthers veterans were given rest days as the Panthers had their first practice of a short week of preparation for Atlanta after Monday night's game.

Mike Adams, Thomas Davis, Ryan Kalil, Luke Kuechly, Julius Peppers, Eric Reid, Kawann Short and Trai Turner all took rest days and did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Quarterback Cam Newton did not practice as the team announced that he will not start this week against the Falcons because of his right shoulder injury. Taylor Heinicke is slated to start in Newton's place.

Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn (knee) and linebacker Shaq Thompson (shoulder) also did not practice on Wednesday.
