CHARLOTTE — The Panthers fell 27-22 to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, going to 0-2 on the season. Take a look inside the numbers at some big performances, and a breakdown of the snap counts below.

• Hunter Renfrow scored two touchdowns against the Cardinals on Sunday. It was the first time Renfrow scored since Jan. 7, 2023, in the final regular season game of the 2022 season. He didn't score any in 2023 and was out of football in 2024.
• This is Renfrow's first multi-touchdown game since the final game of the 2021 season.

• Quarterback Bryce Young produced his second career 300-yard passing game on Sunday. He finished with a career-high 328 yards after previously throwing for 312 yards as a rookie versus Green Bay.
• Young also established career highs with 35 completions and 55 attempts while matching his career high of three touchdown passes. Young bettered his previous marks of 26 completions and 46 pass attempts versus Tampa Bay (12/1/24) and three touchdowns at Detroit (10/8/23) and at Atlanta (1/5/25).
• Young completed 24 of 38 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns in the second half after passing for just 111 yards and an interception in the first half.
• Most of Young's second half production came on dropbacks over 2.5 seconds, as he completed 12-of-18 pass attempts for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns.

• Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan produced his first career 100-yard receiving game with 100 yards on 6 receptions.
• Most of his production came on downfield passes, as McMillan recorded 82 receiving yards on such passes, bringing his season total to 129 yards on downfield passes. No other rookie wide receiver has caught more than 55 yards on downfield passes through the first two weeks.
• With 100 yards in Week 2, it marked the earliest in a season that a Panthers rookie has compiled 100 yards receiving. Two rookies previously had 100-yard receiving outings in Week 3: Kelvin Benjamin with 115 yards and 1 touchdown on 8 catches versus Pittsburgh (9/21/14) and Christian McCaffrey with 101 yards on 9 catches versus New Orleans (9/24/17).
• In two games, McMillan has totaled 11 receptions and 168 receiving yards, the most by a rookie in their first two games in team history. The previous bests were nine catches by Muhsin Muhammad in 1996 and McCaffrey in 2017 and 138 receiving yards by Benjamin in 2014.

• Panthers tight ends combined to record 11 receptions for 83 yards at Arizona (9/14/25). Ja'Tavion Sanders tied for the team lead with a career-high six catches for 54 yards; Tommy Tremble posted three receptions for 20 yards.
• Rookie Mitchell Evans hauled in his first career catch on a 9-yard reception in the third quarter.

• Rookie outside linebacker Princely Umanmielen collected his first career sack and the Panthers' first sack of the season when he dropped Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for a 9-yard loss in the second quarter.
• Umanmielen's sack is the earliest a rookie defender has notched their first career sack since Brian Burns, who also picked up his first in Week 2 of his rookie season (2019).

• Outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum grabbed his first career interception on Sunday. The Panthers took the possession back down the field and scored a touchdown.

• The Panthers executed a successful onside kick with 1:58 remaining in the game when punter Sam Martin squibbed the ball and it was recovered by safety Demani Richardson after being touched by a Cardinals player. It marked Carolina's first successful onside kick since linebacker Jermaine Carter Jr. recovered a kick by Michael Palardy at Washington (12/1/19).
• Since the rule change last season concerning onside kicks (a team must be trailing, and declare they are trying an onside kick), the success rate has gone way down. There were only three successful onside kicks the entire 2024 season in the NFL.

SNAP COUNTS

Take a look at the snap counts and playtime percentage for the Panthers in Week 2 of the regular season against the Cardinals.

• The big change in receiver snaps was for veteran Hunter Renfrow, who played 42 snaps last week (the most he had played in nearly three years), and was up to 69 this week. On a percentage basis, Renfrow went from 66 to 81 percent. His previous high snap count was 64 in 2021, during his Pro Bowl season with the Raiders before he missed a year dealing with health issues. Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette's percentages were almost identical to last week's.
• The ironman club is down to four, as offensive linemen Damien Lewis, Ikem Ekwonu, and Taylor Moton played all 85 snaps, along with Bryce Young.
• The Panthers are awaiting test results today on center Austin Corbett (who missed the final 17 snaps) and guard Robert Hunt (who missed the final 23). Corbett left with a knee injury, and Hunt had a biceps issue, and they're having MRIs today.

• On defense, Mike Jackson, Jaycee Horn, Christian Rozeboom, and Tre'von Moehrig played every snap, while Nick Scott only missed a single snap. Those five played every snap in Week 1.
• Defensive tackle Derrick Brown played 71 percent, which tracks with last week's number (73 percent). They're trying to keep him out of the extreme 90-plus percent games he has had in the past, and he's still impacting games.
• Rookie pass rushers Nic Scourton (40 percent up from 27 last week) and Princely Umanmielen (24 percent up from 12) got a bump in snaps, though Patrick Jones II (89 percent) and D.J. Wonnum (69 percent) got the bulk of the work. The big difference was the jump for Jones (up from 62 percent), and DJ Johnson went from 24 percent to a single defensive snap.
• Rookie safety Lathan Ransom got a slight bump from last week (22 percent up from 14), and rookie defensive tackle Cam Jackson (11 percent) appeared in his first NFL game.

• Special teams snaps tracked from last week, with Claudin Cherelus, Thomas Incoom, and Demani Richardson posting the big numbers.
• Punter Sam Martin again had more snaps than long snapper JJ Jansen, thanks to his onside kickoff. And since it worked, he may get more opportunities in the future.
