CHARLOTTE — Tuesday was a big day for Daniel High School, as a pair of former Lions players linked up again here.
The Panthers promoted veteran defensive end DeShawn Williams to the active roster from the practice squad, and signed former Bills outside linebacker Shaq Lawson to the practice squad. They played together at Daniel High before going to Clemson.
Williams was elevated for two games earlier this season, after playing 16 games for the Panthers last year.
Lawson was with the Bills the previous two seasons, his second stint with the team that picked him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's also spent time with the Dolphins, Texans, and Jets.
The 30-year-old Lawson has 26.0 career sacks, and helps add to a position group that was thin last week when Jadeveon Clowney left with a shoulder injury.
Williams was here last season for training camp, when Daniel High had a unified practice with the Panthers during training camp.
