Dave Canales: WRs Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette "day-to-day"

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers had a deep wide receiver group in training camp, and it's a good thing.

The Panthers were without three listed starters in practice on Wednesday, as they prepare for their Week 4 trip to New England.

Tetairoa McMillan (calf) and Xavier Legette (hamstring) were on the sidelines in their gray walk-through shirts during the portion of practice open to the media, and didn't participate.

Also, veteran slot receiver Hunter Renfrow (not-injury-related/personal) wasn't on the field. Canales said Renfrow and his wife welcomed a baby to the world.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales said McMillan and Legette were "day-to-day" and they'd monitor them throughout the week.

The Carolina Panthers hold camp Monday, Aug. 11, 2025 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

McMillan has been one of the best in his class this year, leading all rookies in receiving yards (216) and tied for the lead in receptions (14, with Colts tight end Tyler Warren)

Legette was inactive for Sunday's win over the Falcons because of the hamstring issue from practice last week.

Without those three on the practice field, the Panthers were left with David Moore and Brycen Tremayne, along with rookies Jimmy Horn Jr. and Dalevon Campbell on the active roster.

They just brought Dan Chisena back to the practice squad, where he joined Ja'seem Reed and Ainias Smith.

Canales also said that tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) was more of a "week-to-week" situation.
