Panthers add Willie Snead to the practice squad

Willie Snead

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added veteran wide receiver Willie Snead to the practice squad Friday, seven years after his first stint here.

The 29-year-old wide receiver was most recently with the Raiders, but spent most of his career with the Saints and Ravens. In 2017, he was in New Orleans when Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady was an assistant there. In 2015 with the Saints, Snead had 69 catches for a career-high 984 yards and three touchdowns.

"Willie's extremely tough. A tough football player," Brady said. "He has a veteran presence about him. Strong hands, great route runner."

Snead was on the Panthers practice squad in 2014. He went to camp with the Browns that summer as an undrafted rookie from Ball State.

To make room for him on the practice squad, the Panthers placed defensive lineman Frank Herron on the practice squad injured reserve list.
