Panthers add a tight end to practice squad

RosterMove

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added another tight end Tuesday, after the season-ending injury to Ja'Tavion Sanders on Sunday.

The team signed former 49ers tight end Ross Dwelley to the practice squad.

The 30-year-old Dwelley has been in the league since 2018, most of that time with San Francisco, where he began as an undrafted rookie from the University of San Diego. He's also had stints with the Falcons and Lions. He was released by the Lions earlier this month.

In eight seasons, he'd played in 112 games with 18 starts, with 47 receptions for 530 yards and five touchdowns.

The Panthers still have three tight ends on the active roster after Sanders' injury, with Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans, and James Mitchell (who has played four games this year, but will be active this week).
