Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Walk-off field goal in West Coast win

The Buccaneers pulled off a significant win on Sunday against Seattle, in a quarterback duel between Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold; both quarterbacks threw for over 340 yards and multiple touchdowns. Mayfield finished 29-33 for 379 yards and two passing touchdowns and no interceptions, as well as five rushes for 15 yards.

Mayfield has been on a tear all season, throwing for 1,283 yards so far, which is third in the league. With Mike Evans (hamstring) sidelined, he's found his best connection with rookie Emeka Egbuka.

The Ohio State product had seven catches for 163 yards and a touchdown in the win against Seattle. It was his second straight 100-yard outing, and he now owns three of the top five yardage games for rookie receivers this season. According to the Bucs, he is now the first player in NFL history with 25-plus receptions, 400-plus receiving yards, and five or more receiving touchdowns in his first five career games.

"He's well-rounded and not just in football, in life," said Mayfield of his receiver. "I think he's grounded, and I think he's just genuine in everything he does. He's intentional. You just don't see that often, and especially as a rookie with the talent that he has, you really don't see it often."

After three-plus quarters of a shootout, the Bucs clinched the win in Seattle thanks to a timely interception from linebacker Lavonte David. With less than a minute to go, and deep in Seahawks territory, David picked off Darnold.

"We were saving that blitz for a rainy day," said coach Todd Bowles of the play. "We brought it out. We've been running it a lot, but we didn't run it the entire game. Everybody was waiting on it, and it finally came, and "Te" made the veteran play that he made. It was a heck of a ballgame, and for our leader to step up and make that play was huge."

With favorable field position, Mayfield and the Bucs offense spotted the ball for kicker Chase McLaughlin to kick a game-winning 39-yard field goal. McLaughlin had been sick all day, leading Mayfield to jokingly call it his flu game.

The Bucs improved to 4-1 with the win. All of their victories have come in the final minute of regulation.

"It says we've matured and we're finally playing 59 or 60 minutes," said Bowles. "We've got some wins early; we've got to keep stacking them. They're hard to come by. We're playing good teams with injured guys all over the place, and that those guys come here and win after a long plane ride says a lot about them."

New Orleans Saints: First win comes off five turnovers

The Saints secured their first win of the season thanks to a dominant performance from their defense. That unit forced five straight turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions), scoring 13 points off of said turnovers, to defeat the New York Giants 26-14.

With the win, edge rusher Cam Jordan said the Saints finally saw the culmination of everything they work on during the week.

"We ain't been waiting for s---," Jordan, who recovered one of those fumbles, told neworleanssaints.com. "We were working for a win. We ain't waiting. We've been in the lab working.

"We've been talking about how we need to eliminate penalties, we've been talking about how we need to force turnovers," Jordan said. "Are we starting to eliminate penalties? I think we had two or three pre-snap that we wish we could have back.

"(Turnovers were) huge. We've been stuck at that '1' number; we finally broke that. Plus-5 in the turnover ratio, and that's how you get a win."

Safety Jordan Howden returned one of the fumbles for an 86-yard scoop-and-score, and the Saints knocked through two field goals off the other fumbles. While the offense wasn't able to capitalize on Kool-Aid McKinstry's two interceptions, they did hold the ball long enough on those two drives to keep the Giants from working back into the deficit.

On offense, the Saints found a connection between quarterback Spencer Rattler and receiver Rashid Shaheed. The latter finished with four receptions for 114 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown.

"It feels good, man," Rattler said. "It feels good to get that first win. It was a team win. Defense played great, O-line played elite today."

Atlanta Falcons: Bye Week

The Falcons had an early bye in Week 5, giving the team a chance to get healthy and rest up after starting 2-2.

Ahead of their fourth week of play, the Falcons had eight on the injury report, including three players ruled out for their Week 4 matchup against the Commanders, and then two players injured during the game against Washington.

Some of the names to watch for updates this week include receiver Darnell Mooney (hamstring), corner A.J. Terrell Jr. (hamstring), receiver KhaDarel Hodge (groin), tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe), edge rusher James Pearce Jr. (groin), and return specialist Jamal Agnew (groin).

Also during the bye week, the Falcons had two players named Players of the Month. Running back Bijan Robinson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month following a September in which he garnered 584 scrimmage yards through the first four weeks and scored two touchdowns. Robinson registered two 100-yard receiving games and picked up 100 rushing yards in a third game.

"He's definitely the best player in football in my head," coach Raheem Morris said. "I don't care, he's unbelievable. I love the kid. I love everything about him. I love watching him with the ball. I love his confidence. I love his demeanor. I love his mindset. I love the leadership. I love everything about him."

Safety Xavier Watts was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for the entire league. This is on the heels of a September in which Watts had 23 total tackles, four passes defended, and two interceptions.
