Panthers release depth chart ahead of Week 2 for the 2025 season

DepthChart

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers released their second unofficial depth chart of the regular season on Tuesday, heading into Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

The chart stayed the same as what was released ahead of Week 1, with no major or minor changes to note.

Despite Tershawn Wharton's hamstring injury suffered Sunday in Jacksonville, he remains at the top of the defensive end unit, with Bobby Brown III in the second slot as a rotational player. Brown played 33 snaps against the Jaguars, 50% of the defensive plays. Dave Canales said on Monday Wharton would be getting an MRI to determine the extent of his hamstring injury, but initial returns expected two to four weeks. Canales will meet with media on Wednesday to provide new updates.

The entire pass catching corps will stay the same heading into Arizona, with Tetairoa McMillan starting in his second game. He finished with a game-high five receptions for 68 yards against the Jaguars. At tight end, Ja'Tavion Sanders continues to get the start as well.

On the defensive front, in addition to Wharton, Derrick Brown, A'Shawn Robinson, Patrick Jones II and D.J. Wonnum remain the starters, with rookies Princely Umanmielen and Nic Scourton getting time at edge rusher. Jaden Crumedy will play behind Brown for the second week in a row, after being activated to the 53-man roster last week.

Special teams will roll with the same starting unit again, with Trevor Etienne as the primary returner on punt and kickoffs, and Ryan Fitzgerald getting his second start in the NFL. The latter knocked through a 48-yard field goal in the first quarter against the Jags to get the Panthers on the board.
